SUMMARY:First-Generation Student Art & Literary Showcase: “Why I Am First”
DESCRIPTION:Themes:   \n‘Why I am First’ (For First-Gen Students only)\nOpen Theme (Non-First-Generation students & *First-Gen Students)\n*First-Gen students must submit one artwork/literature for the theme. A second artwork can be submitted for either the theme or the open theme.\n \nSubmission Guidelines: \nFirst-generation students can submit art\, poetry\, essays\, or photography reflecting their experiences and identity as first-generation college students by Monday\, November 11\, 2024. \n\nStudents who are not first-gen\, but would like to submit\, are allowed to do so. Art and literature can be of any topic for non-first-gen students. First-gen students are also permitted to submit for any theme but MUST have one submission on the ‘Why I am First’ prompt. Only first-gen students are eligible to win the ‘Why I am First’ award. \n\n\nAll submissions must be framed\, including written works. Please reach out to trent.montgomery@easternwv.edu if you need help with acquiring a frame.\nIf you can’t provide a physical version of your work to be displayed\, you can submit a jpg\, png\, or pdf of your art or writing. There will be an online gallery for these entries!\nNo more than two submissions per person.\nPlease do not ship your artwork to the college without approval. If approved\, you MUST provide return shipping costs.\nAll mediums will be accepted.\nComplete the submission form at https://bit.ly/3Y93CE3\nSpots are on a first-come\, first-serve basis with current Eastern Students taking precedence.\n\nEmail trent.montgomery@easternwv.edu to schedule a time to drop off artwork once you have completed the application. \nWinners will be chosen by a select group of Eastern Faculty/Staff. \nPrizes: \n\n\nBest in Show-$100 Amazon Card\n‘Why I am First’ Prize-$75 Amazon Card\nHonorable Mention-$25 Amazon Card\nEach winner will also get an Eastern Gear Pack.
