The course will include educational modules and weekly live online webinar sessions between 1 – 2 p.m. (Aug. 22\, 29\, Sept. 5\, 12\, 19\, and 26) followed by in-person hands-on lab sessions on Sept. 28 and 29.  \nNo prior experience or background in electrical systems and/or solar photovoltaics is needed. \nBy the end of the course\, students should have all the skills necessary to design and install residential-scale solar electric system. Students will also be certified\, after passing the examination\, as a Photovoltaic Installer–Level 1 (PVI1) — a credential recognized around the globe.

DESCRIPTION:What: Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College invites West Virginia educators and high school students to the ninth annual Potomac Highlands Agriculture Technology and Innovation Student Challenge. \nWhen: Friday\, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. \nWhere: Eastern’s Main Campus in Moorefield\, 316 Eastern Drive\, Moorefield WV\, 26836 \nAG INNOVATION SHOWCASE\nThe showcase gives students the chance to network with specialists in their field. Students are able to attend educational sessions presented by representatives from various organizations including WVU Extension\, Farm Credit Knowledge Center\, and other state\, local\, public and private ag organizations and businesses. \nPOTOMAC HIGHLANDS AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION STUDENT CHALLENGE\nIn the challenge\, students will develop solutions for issues the field of agriculture is facing using innovation in the form of technology\, problem-solving and new application. Student teams will prepare a three minute presentation or demonstration to discuss their concept. The presentation will be followed by a three minute Q&A session. Teams of up to four high school students can register to compete. Only one team is permitted per school. What aspects of being a first-generation college student fill you with pride? What unique strengths do you possess as a first-gen student\, and how have your experiences bolstered your academic pursuits?” \nEssay submissions should range from 400 to 500 words. Please also submit a selfie to be used on the website and/or social media!
