Before joining Eastern as a faculty member, Smith worked at Pilgrim’s and JBS Foods in multiple roles, such as warehouse laborer, maintenance, and scale technician. He observed faults and efficiencies and would troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to maintain their systems at peak performance.

His most recent experience has been working with Clearway Energy Group as a Wind Tech I Intern, where he performs annual maintenance and troubleshoots on the Siemens 108 2.3 Turbine platform at Pinnacle. Smith has also gained hands-on experience at Black Rock on the SG145 5.0 turbine platforms.

Outside of work, Smith is interested in cars and music. “My biggest passion in life is cars,” said Smith, “wrenching on them, discussing them, driving them, anything that pertains to the automotive realm really. My second largest interest is music, and it doesn’t matter from when; everything from Little Richard to Metallica and a decent bit of everything in-between.”

Looking forward to what is to come with his new role at Eastern, Smith says, “Due to my previous time spent as a student and as a college ambassador, I can say that my favorite things about Eastern are the staff and the more personal one-on-one feeling when compared to other colleges.”
