SUMMARY:2025 Community Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Eastern WVCTC 2025 Community Art Show\n\nPlease complete the online submission form. The deadline to apply is Friday\, May 16\, 2025. \nShow Run Dates:  Tuesday\, May 27 – Friday\, June 13 \nReception Date:  Tuesday\, June 3: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. \nDrop-Off & Set-Up:  Saturday\, May 17 and Wednesday\, May 21 – 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. \nPick-up & Take-Down:  Saturday\, June 14 & Wednesday\, June 18 – 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. \nEligibility:  The 2025 Community Art Show at Eastern WVCTC is open to all U.S. artists age 18 and older and High School Seniors. Entries in the following media will be accepted: painting\, watercolor\, drawing\, mixed media\, digital illustration/painting/graphic design (no AI)\, printmaking\, ceramics\, sculpture\, and photography. Two-dimensional work must not exceed 3ft in width & 3ft in height and must be ready for exhibition. All works must be framed and wired for display. Exceptions include sculptures and ceramics. Sawtooth hangers will not be accepted. Gallery-wrapped canvases are accepted without frames but must have a wire installed for hanging. We are not able to accept work that requires suspension from the ceiling. All work submissions must not be over 15 pounds. Three-dimensional work must not exceed 3 feet in any direction. Depending on size\, they will be placed on tables or on the floor for display. All work must be labeled with the artist’s name\, title\, short description\, & price. Gallery space is limited\, so entry is on a first come\, first serve basis. \nThe Eastern WVCTC Art Show Committee will serve as the final authority on eligibility. All art is expected to be displayed throughout the length of the Community Art Show. Work submitted should be considered for general viewing audiences of all ages. \nFee\, Entry\, & Pick-up/Drop-off Procedure: Students who submit will pay no cost for entry and will be allowed a maximum of three entries. Residents of counties in Eastern’s service area (Hardy\, Grant\, Pendleton\, Hampshire\, Tucker\, & Mineral) will receive a discounted entry fee of $10. All other artists who submit will pay an entry fee of $20. The fee allows up to three entries. All artwork must be brought to Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College on Saturday\, May 17\, between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or on Wednesday\, May 21\, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. The entry fee can be paid by check or cash on the drop-off date. Please make checks out to Eastern WVCTC or Eastern WVCTC Foundation. \nPlease fill out the online entry form at https://easternwv.formstack.com/forms/eastern_community_art_show_2025. \nSales:  Sales are encouraged\, and all works are assumed to be available for purchase unless designated “Not For Sale” (NFS). The artist is responsible for ALL details of the sale\, including delivery of the work to the buyer after pickup on June 14 or 18. A 5% commission is to be paid to the Eastern Foundation by the artist for each sale by June 30\, 2025. Student work that is sold will not have a commission fee. Commission costs go to funding the Art Club and the Eagle’s Nest Art & Literary Magazine. Commission checks should be made out to Eastern WVCTC Foundation and mailed to Eastern WVCTC Foundation\, c/o Robert Burns\, 316 Eastern Drive\, Moorefield\, WV 26836. \nOur Judges:  The show will be judged by artists Kristen Colebank and Donna Davy. Colebank works primarily in watercolor and is a Signature Member of the WV Watercolor Society and 2024 Creative Entrepreneur Fellow with the Tamarack Foundation for the Arts. She recently won an Award of Merit in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society’s Aqueous Open International Exhibition. Her website is https://waitesrunstudios.com. Davy’s work is predominantly in acrylic\, and in 2021 she was the first-place winner in the Animal/Wildlife category of the Artist’s Magazine’s annual Student Art Competition. Davy holds a Master of Arts degree\, with a concentration in painting and drawing\, from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco\, and she has nearly completed coursework for her Master of Fine Arts degree\, also from AAU. SUMMARY:First-Generation Student Art & Literary Showcase: “Why I Am First”
DESCRIPTION:Themes:   \n‘Why I am First’ (For First-Gen Students only)\nOpen Theme (Non-First-Generation students & *First-Gen Students)\n*First-Gen students must submit one artwork/literature for the theme. A second artwork can be submitted for either the theme or the open theme.\n \nSubmission Guidelines: \nFirst-generation students can submit art\, poetry\, essays\, or photography reflecting their experiences and identity as first-generation college students by Monday\, November 11\, 2024. \n\nStudents who are not first-gen\, but would like to submit\, are allowed to do so. Art and literature can be of any topic for non-first-gen students. First-gen students are also permitted to submit for any theme but MUST have one submission on the ‘Why I am First’ prompt. Only first-gen students are eligible to win the ‘Why I am First’ award. \n\n\nAll submissions must be framed\, including written works. SUMMARY:Walk 100 Miles Challenge: Shirt Tye-Dying & First Lap
DESCRIPTION:The second annual Walk 100 Miles Challenge is running from June 2 to August 10\, with the first lap occurring on May 31 at 4 p.m. This 10-week program is designed to help you develop the habit of walking at least one mile a day\, promoting both physical fitness and mental relaxation. \nWhile the primary goal is to walk at least one mile daily\, you are welcome to log as many miles as you wish each day. Additionally\, other forms of equivalent aerobic exercises can be counted (using a scale of 20 minutes = one mile). Once you register\, we will email you more detailed information about the program. \nTo kick off the event\, we will be dyeing t-shirts on May 31st from 12 PM to 5 PM. The first lap if you are able will be at 4 pm.  Sizes are available on a first-come\, first-served basis for the first 75 participants. If you have a shirt from last year and do not require a new one\, please indicate this on the registration form. Refreshments will be provided for those attending during their lunch break. \nWe are excited to offer prizes at the end of the 10-week program. To qualify\, simply submit your weekly miles by the deadline each Sunday of the new walk week. \nRegister to attend the event at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Walk100-24\n\nThis walking program is made possible through the generous funding secured from the 2023-2024 Campus Mental Health Grant provided by the WV Higher Education Policy Commission\, WV Community and Technical College Systems\, and Behavioral Health Programs.
