Eastern College Staff Honored as Part of Award-Winning VITA Tax Team at Volunteer Recognition Event

Moorefield, W.Va.— On Saturday, September 21, 2024, a group of community volunteers for the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) IRS Program held their first meeting at Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College to prepare for the upcoming tax season.

Last year, VITA volunteers helped 280 area residents file their taxes for free. The VITA Tax Team received the Eastern Panhandle EITC Coalition Site of the Year for 2023 from preparing the most Veteran tax returns from seven sites.
