Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Resources from TIAA and Savi
News regarding student debt brought to you by TIAA and Savi Student Loan Solution.
Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is a federal program designed to reduce the burden of student loan debt for people who work in public service. The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC) and West Virginia’s public higher education institutions are considered public service employers for the purposes of these programs.
Simply put, PSLF pairs the immediate relief of an income-driven repayment plan (to make your monthly payments affordable) with the longer-term relief of loan forgiveness. You’ve probably heard some negative press about the difficulties borrowers have faced in attempting to realize the benefits from these programs.
As an employee of one of West Virginia’s public higher education institutions, you now have access to great tool that can help ease the burden of student debt. Not only can it lower your monthly payment and help you find the best federal repayment programs for your financial situation, it simplifies the task of navigating the way to forgiveness.
- Reduce your payment based on your income and family size
- Free up funds that you can direct towards other financial goals
- Remove the complexities of forgiveness and put the process on autopilot—all for a small fee*
Savi users save an average of $1,800 per year through lower monthly payments and an average of $50,000 in student loan forgiveness.**
