EKG Technician

•  45 Course Contact Hours

This comprehensive 45-hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the National HealthCareer Association exam (NHA).

Program Overview

This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography, and stress testing.

Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands-on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement, and other clinical practices.

Program Schedule

Six Weeks. Two Evenings/Week, 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Two Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM for Five Weeks.

Courses include Medical Terminology and EKG.

$875*

*Rates include books. Rates are for 2023-2024 and are subject to change. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Certifications

Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to sit for the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Certified EKG Technician Associate (CET).

 

Meet Your Instructor

Rachael Hyre, Moorefield Allied Health Instructor

Rachael Hyre is a Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) with over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She is also a longtime member of the American Association of Medical Assistants.  Rachael comes from a family of healthcare professionals and started her healthcare journey as a teen volunteer in Cumberland, MD. She has worked in many different areas in the industry from Administration, Care Management, to clinical patient care.  Rachael received her AA degree, cum laude, in Medical Assisting with a Certification in Medical Billing and Coding from Allegany College of Maryland in 2018.

Rachael resides in Old Fields, with her husband Bryan. Rachael is also a doting "Nana" to her granddaughter Laura Elizabeth and proud stepmom to son, Jason. 

Diane Myers, Moorefield Instructor

Diane Myers began working in the medical field nearly 50 years ago. Today, she works part-time as a medical assistant and phlebotomist at Love Memorial Clinic and has been teaching at Eastern since 2012.

"Working in the medical field has always been a rewarding job for me," she said.

Myers currently lives in Old Fields, West Virginia, with her husband, Tom. She has two sons and two grandchildren.
