Eastern College Bids Farewell to Board of Governors Chair, Greg Greenwalt in Surprise Celebration

Moorefield, W.Va.  – Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College held a heartfelt celebration on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, to honor Greg Greenwalt, who has served on the Board of Governors for the past 10 years. He was originally appointed as a board member by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin in October 2014, elected as Vice-Chair in July 2017, and finally was elected as Chair in May 2020. Among some of Mr. Greenwalt’s accomplishments as Chair, is leading Eastern through the COVID pandemic and a successful presidential search.

The celebration, which was a surprise for Greenwalt, took place in the student lounge where Eastern staff gathered to show their appreciation. The event followed his final Board of Governors meeting. As he exited the boardroom, Mr. Greenwalt was met with applause and well wishes from his colleagues. Dr. Tom Striplin, President of Eastern, presented Greenwalt with a Certificate of Appreciation, issued by Governor Jim Justice. He was also recognized for his service at the Spring 24 Commencement Ceremony, plus has been given an honorary associate degree from Eastern.

The celebration featured catering by Meadowbrook Farms BBQ, providing a delicious spread for all attendees. In addition, a candy bar and a beautifully decorated sheet cake added to the festive atmosphere.
