Eastern’s Dean of Academic Services Talks At New Energy Caucus about Wind Energy

On February 15, Curtis Hakala, dean of academic services (pictured below), spoke about wind energy at the West Virginia state capitol for the New Energy Caucus. Eastern has the only Wind Energy Technology program in West Virginia; at the beginning of 2022, alumni from this program were hired by Clearway Energy Group right out of graduating. Clearway and Eastern have supported each other’s efforts to bring greater awareness toward wind energy. The Eastern Foundation and Clearway collaborated in June 2022 to create a scholarship fund for students enrolled in the Wind Energy Technology program.

“By collaborating with Clearway Energy, Eastern is not only powering the growth of renewable energy but also empowering the local workforce by providing skilled wind energy technicians throughout the state, said Hakala, “I am proud to have shared our success story at the New Energy Caucus in Charleston and remain committed to driving positive change in the West Virginia community through sustainable solutions.”
