MOOREFIELD, W.Va. – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College (Eastern) has hired Michael Bush and Joshua Myers as Telecommunications Network Specialist I and Information Systems Technician in the IT Department.
Michael Bush, telecommunications network specialist I, resides in Keyser, WV, with his wife and two children. “I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved to West Virginia when I was nine years old,” said Bush. Before joining Eastern, he worked as an IT support specialist at TEKsystems in Frederick, MD, and other IT-related positions. “I have a high school education and have taken some college courses in the past,” said Bush, “however, everything else has been self-taught. I took my first computer apart when I was twelve years old.” In his free time, he enjoys video games, playing the guitar, and various sports. When asked what he enjoys at Eastern, he said, “I love the people and the atmosphere. Everyone has been welcoming so far. It is a very laid-back atmosphere and seems like all the people that I have met are like a big family.”
Joshua Myers, information systems technician, comes from “all over the place,” according to Myers, “My family moved around a lot due to my father being in the military. I don’t have one place that I’m from, but I do currently live in Romney, WV.” Myers holds an associate in computer information services from Eastern WVCTC and a bachelor of applied science in computer information systems from Potomac State College. Before Eastern, he gained IT and help desk experience at Potomac State College, worked as the technology advisor for the Burlington Fire Department, and was IT support for Mountaintop Treasures in Augusta, WV. Myers also has a background as a volunteer emergency medical technician (E.M.T.) for six years and in emergency medical services (E.M.S.) for three. Outside work, he has many hobbies like playing the tenor saxophone, collecting model ships from Star Wars, and video game artwork. “My top hobby is playing video games with my friends. I love going to baseball games, and I used to play the sport in high school,” said Myers, “I also like to make jokes and make people laugh if you consider that a hobby. When asked what he enjoys at Eastern, he said, “I really enjoy how everyone is so welcoming and kind. I have to say this is the best place I have worked at so far, and that’s not just a plug for the welcoming environment the school offers.”
