What is something you learned (knowledge, training, skills) during Eastern’s Workforce training program that you utilize in your workplace and/or current training?
Compassion and empathy as well as documentation (if it was not documented, it didn’t happen)
Did trainers/instructors/staff at Eastern contribute to your career success? How did they help you?
During my attendance, I was so thankful to have two math tutors, if it weren’t for them, I don’t know that I would have made it, as I had to have college-level math in order to graduate. Their names were Kim (can’t remember her last name) and Katie Branson!
What advice would you give to current Workforce students at Eastern who are looking to follow a similar path to a job?
You got to put your heart into it, when you love what you do, you will be self-sufficient, and your patients will know who you are by your bedside manner. Remember, they come first. You are the one they come to if they are sick, preventative care, or maybe they are having a bad day and they need you to be a compassionate person just to listen, trust me, they will appreciate you!
Please feel free to share recent accomplishments and achievements in the workforce (within the last year): including projects, awards, and any relevant information.
First of all, I couldn’t ask to work for a better company than EA Hawse. They are all about patient care and that is where the heart comes in. They also reward us for the hard work that we do, I truly am so thankful and blessed to be in the position that I am!
I started out at Eastern when I was laid off from my job in 2011. At the time I had a 3-year-old, a 13-year-old, and a home to take care of. My husband took care of the home and kids while I completed my journey. In 2013, I walked across the stage with my certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant, it truly was the best feeling!
I immediately went to work, it takes a lot of hands-on to get the jist of how it works! It’s been 10 years and here I am rocking it and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
