Workforce Education Department Seeks Respondents for Survey on COVID-19 Impact

The Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College Workforce Education Department is collecting data from local businesses or organizations that are located in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Mineral, Pendleton, or Tucker counties regarding current and future plans for sustainment and growth in a post-pandemic world.   This survey is intended to identify the impact that COVID-19 has had on local businesses and organizations and understand the workforce needs of the community. Data collected from this survey will be used to compile a report to be shared with all respondents who opt-in. Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College Campus Statue Painted by Local Artist

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s 8-foot Chicken Statue was recently painted by local artist Kelson Thorne. The statue, named “Henrietta” by Eastern President Dr. Charles Terrell was one of Kelson’s many recent mural projects completed over the summer and fall. The statue overlooks Corridor H on the north end of Eastern’s campus, welcoming travelers to the Poultry Capital of West Virginia.

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Through Little Free Library book exchanges, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds. There are over 100,000 Little Libraries worldwide.

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College welcomes Marti Neustadt as Potomac Highlands Virtual Agriculture Business Coach

Eastern is excited to welcome Ms. Marti Neustadt to serve as the Potomac Highlands Virtual Agriculture Business Coach beginning November 1st. Neustadt has experience working as a business advisor and coach to a variety of agricultural enterprises, including the Woodlands Community Lenders and the Natural Capital Investment Fund. She is a graduate of West Virginia University in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance.

The Foundation is dedicated to supporting student scholarships, faculty development, and capital projects. Generous donors and friends allow the Foundation to provide financial assistance that helps make college possible and opens doors for career training. Donors recognize the important role Eastern plays in the economic development of the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.

Free Upcoming Presentations as Part of Eastern’s Diversity for Equity Grant

The West Virginia’s Higher Education Policy Commission and Community and Technical College System awarded $85,000 in grants to support strengthened diversity efforts at higher education institutions across the state, including Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College. The grant projects are designed to support campus-led initiatives that make higher education more accessible to people of all ages, races, genders and backgrounds. Examples of funded projects include conducting various diversity trainings and presentations for students, faculty, and staff. These presentations are made available as part of Eastern’s project titled “Human Growth.”

Eastern Donates 3D Printed Masks to Health Occupations Partners

August 20, 2020

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College donated 3D printed masks to three local Health Occupations Partners: EA Hawse Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Grant Rehabilitation & Care Center, and Pendleton Manor.
In collaboration with the West Virginia National Guard, who provided the two patterns used to create the masks, Eastern was able to assemble and donate 150 masks using 3D printing technology. Essential staff members at these facilities will be able to use the masks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
