First-Gen Proud: Essay Contest

We are thrilled to introduce our inaugural 1st GEN PROUD ESSAY CONTEST!
This competition serves as a platform to highlight the accomplishments of our first-generation students, spanning all phases of their academic journeys.
We extend a warm invitation to first-generation students to share a concise personal essay in response to the following query:
“What does being First Gen Proud mean to you? What aspects of being a first-generation college student fill you with pride? What unique strengths do you possess as a first-gen student, and how have your experiences bolstered your academic pursuits?”
Essay submissions should range from 400 to 500 words. Please also submit a selfie to be used on the website and/or social media! The essays will undergo an impartial evaluation process by esteemed faculty members from the Department of English.

We will be awarding a Sheetz $25 gift card and Eastern gear to the winner.
