MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Students from Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College recently traveled to James Madison University for an educational field trip that included a guided campus tour and a film presentation at the John C. Wells Planetarium.
The visit provided students with the opportunity to explore a four-year university environment, learn about academic programs and student life at JMU, and experience a science-based educational program in the planetarium setting.
Students were accompanied by Dixie Heavener, Eastern’s career counselor and Title III project director, and Debi Layton, instructional specialist for the DHHR-TANF Liaison Expansion Partnership, associate professor of psychology and Phi Theta Kappa co-advisor.
The group toured key areas of the JMU campus, gaining insight into campus resources, facilities and the overall college experience. The trip concluded with a movie showing at the John C. Wells Planetarium, where students engaged with immersive content focused on astronomy and space science.
Students who attended the field trip included Macenzie Anderson, Madison Bolinger-Kennedy, Rachael Christian, Zachary Copeland, Emma Snyder, Harmony Thorn, Kaylee Turner and Mitzy Castro.
