MOOREFIELD, W.Va. – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College hosted its end-of-semester Student Success Night, on Friday, May 16. This was an evening dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of its students for their academic achievements, including honor roll distinctions and completion of workforce education courses.
“This evening, we celebrate perseverance, excellence, and the courage to lead. Whether you’ve earned honors, completed workforce training, or are the first in your family to walk this path, your success is our shared triumph,” said Monica Wilson, V.P. of Academics and Student Services. “We are proud of all our students! Please keep moving forward with purpose and pride.”
There were 52 attendees present, including students and members of their support systems. The event honored students with certificates of recognition for their academic and personal achievements throughout the semester.
Guests enjoyed light refreshments while students received their academic certificates. Faculty and staff engaged with students to discuss their educational journeys, future goals, and available support to help them reach the next level.
“Success is not just about reaching your goals; it’s about the journey you take to get there. Today we honor those who have embraced learning, overcome obstacles, and shown that determination and commitment lead to incredible achievements,” said Sherry Michael, Education Programs coordinator/assistant professor-faculty. “May your success inspire others to chase their dreams with the same passion and grit. Congratulations to all our awardees!”
Student Success Night highlights Eastern’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment where hard work, growth, and persistence are acknowledged and encouraged. The evening was made possible through generous support from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and the Community & Technical College System First-Generation Grant, which supports initiatives that uplift first-generation students across the state.
