The Career Carnival provided attendees with a unique blend of interactive and educational learning activities centered around career and major exploration. Participants immersed themselves in carnival games designed to impart valuable career and college major selection tips. Each station featured informative materials to guide attendees through various career pathways and educational opportunities.

Employer partners at the event were St. George Medical Clinic, Summit Community Bank, WV Appalachian Laborers Union, U.S. Army National Guard, Pendleton Community Bank, WV Jumpstart Program – Office of the West Virginia State Treasurer, West Virginia Paving, Inc., and Clearway Energy Group, alongside several Eastern programs showcasing their offerings. Noteworthy among these were the Hospitality & Tourism Management certificate, Wind Energy Technology program, Solar Installation Tech training, Commercial Drivers License training, Heavy Equipment Operator program, and the Ag Innovation department, each offering insights into diverse career paths and academic pursuits.

With a crowd of enthusiastic carnival-goers, predominantly Eastern students, the Career Carnival marked a resounding success. Admission was free to both the campus community and the general public, and attendees enjoyed complimentary food and refreshments, including hot dogs, popcorn, pizza, cotton candy, gourmet candy apples, and an assortment of beverages. Transforming the campus lawn into a playground of excitement, the event boasted carnival games, a bustling prize station, and an adrenaline-pumping obstacle course, complemented by the latest tunes mixed by a live DJ.

Reflecting on the success of the Career Carnival, Heavener said, “I love to see our students and community benefiting from the free services and events offered at Eastern through Career Services. This event allowed attendees to network with employers and get a glimpse at some of the great programs offered at Eastern, not to mention have fun playing carnival games focused on career readiness and major exploration. I love my job, and I am motivated to help others find a rewarding career path.”
