Pilgrim’s Provides Team Members Free Tuition to Eastern

Today, Pilgrim’s Moorefield announced a partnership with Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College to provide free tuition to qualifying team members and their dependents.

The nationwide program, Pilgrim’s Better Futures, removes a major financial barrier to college attendance and stands to become the largest free community college tuition program in rural America. Pilgrim’s and Eastern advisors will also help team members – many from first-generation American families – navigate the application process, which can be a deterrence to people applying to college for the first time.

April is Community College Month. Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College joined #CCMonth, a monthlong grassroots education and stigma-busting campaign coordinated by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to improve awareness of the value and need to support community colleges. The primary goals of #CCmonth are to improve awareness of the economic, academic, and equity advantages of attending community colleges and to bust longtime stigmas wrongly associated with public two-year colleges.

Eastern Welcomes Jay Crites as Automotive Technology Faculty

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College has hired former student, Jerimiah (Jay) Crites, as an Instructional Specialist/Automotive Technology Faculty.



As Automotive Technology Faculty, Crites’ primary duties include teaching and assessing learning, institutional service, and advising. He will also oversee the overall development, coordination, implementation and scheduling in the area of automotive technology, recruit, mentor, evaluate and schedule adjunct faculty and teaching assistants for automotive technology courses, and recruit students throughout the six-county district.
