Eastern WVCTC Hosts Successful Annual Job Fair

Moorefield, W.Va. – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s (Eastern) Career Services Department proudly hosted its annual Job Fair on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Organized by Career Counselor, Dixie Heavener, the event featured a wide range of employers from various industries, offering local residents and students the opportunity to explore career opportunities, network with potential employers, and gain valuable insights into today’s job market.

The Job Fair attracted nearly 50 employers representing various industries including healthcare, education, government, finance, construction, and manufacturing. Hiring managers traveled from the tri-state region of West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland.

A highlight of the event is a Potomac Highland Producer’s food box raffle held exclusively for employers. This generous donation, valued at $100, is raffled off annually as a way of thanking the employer partners for their continued support and attendance at Eastern’s job fairs. Tabitha Wagner, a representative from E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center, was the lucky winner, adding a fun and celebratory atmosphere to the day. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the level of engagement we saw at this year’s Job Fair,” said Dixie Heavener. “It’s incredibly rewarding to bring together so many great employers and provide our community with access to meaningful career opportunities. Thank you to the nearly 100 job seekers who also visited campus to speak to employers.”

Eastern WVCTC is committed to supporting the professional growth of its students and the broader community. The annual Job Fair is just one of the many ways the college’s Career Services Department works to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. In addition, Career Services hosts C.R.A.M. (Career Readiness and Management) Workshops monthly designed to help students and job seekers develop essential career management strategies.

Another exciting event is the Career Carnival, held annually in the spring, which offers a fun, educational approach to career exploration, featuring games, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities with employers and industry experts.
