Eastern offering allied health courses in Elkins through RCHA partnership

ELKINS, W.Va. – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College is working with the Randolph County Housing Authority (RCHA) in Elkins to provide healthcare workforce courses as part of RCHA’s Targeted Health Instruction of North Central WV (THINC) program. RCHA was recently awarded more than $1.5 million through a Rural Workforce Program grant, coordinated by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), to support the THINC program’s courses. Eastern exploring joint initiatives with WVU Potomac State College

Earlier this week Dr. Tom Striplin, president of Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College, met with Dr. Chris Gilmer, interim campus president of WVU Potomac State College, to discuss ways the two institutions might collaborate. Eastern donates training equipment to Grant Memorial Hospital

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College is updating its nursing skills lab this summer and needed to free up some space in the lab, so the nursing program has donated three of its training mannequins and a hospital bed to Grant Memorial Hospital (GMH), located in Petersburg, where Jaime Bland, GMH human resources generalist, said the equipment will be used for hospital staff training. Clearway Energy Group Hires Five Recent Wind Energy Technology Grads

December 21, 2021

Clearway Energy Group has hired five recent graduates of the Wind Energy Technology program at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Moorefield. The five new wind techs will support the operations and maintenance of Clearway’s new 115-megawatt Black Rock Wind Farm near Elk Garden and its 54-megawatt Pinnacle Wind Farm near Keyser. Pinnacle was repowered just this year with new turbine technology.

Eastern Partners with Weimer Automotive to Establish Learn & Earn Program

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College has announced a new partnership with Weimer Automotive to provide a “Learn and Earn” program for students enrolled in its automotive technology program. Starting in Fall 2022, the Learn and Earn program will provide second-year automotive technology students an opportunity to experience working in a dealership, practice their learning outcomes and be paid while they train for their careers.

Pilgrim’s Provides Team Members Free Tuition to Eastern

July 26, 2021

Today, Pilgrim’s Moorefield announced a partnership with Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College to provide free tuition to qualifying team members and their dependents.

The nationwide program, Pilgrim’s Better Futures, removes a major financial barrier to college attendance and stands to become the largest free community college tuition program in rural America. Pilgrim’s and Eastern advisors will also help team members – many from first-generation American families – navigate the application process, which can be a deterrence to people applying to college for the first time.
