Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College has received a three-year grant to form and operate a local food co-operative to strengthen the farming economy in the Potomac Highland counties.
This project will strengthen the local food system on a number of levels including building a solid collective and sustainable sales, marketing, and distribution system while providing the resources, training, and coaching needed for the agriculture community which will allow for consistent, reliable, local products to buyers.
There will be a virtual kickoff meeting for members of the community to learn more about the cooperative on May 4, 2020. This informational meeting is to learn about how farming businesses can participate and benefit from collective sales of products to buyers, what’s involved and required to participate.
