Planting Seeds with the Next Generation of Agriculturists

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College Agriculture Innovation Program supports the next generation of agriculturists by providing an in-school agricultural educational farmers market experiential program. The Potomac Highlands Producers Cooperative worked with local producers in the region to purchase seasonal produce to construct a mock farmers market in Moorefield Intermediate School and East Hardy Middle School in early October. Eastern Partners with Weimer Automotive to Establish Learn & Earn Program

Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College has announced a new partnership with Weimer Automotive to provide a “Learn and Earn” program for students enrolled in its automotive technology program. Starting in Fall 2022, the Learn and Earn program will provide second-year automotive technology students an opportunity to experience working in a dealership, practice their learning outcomes and be paid while they train for their careers.

Eastern Receives $2.25 Million Dollar Award to Strengthen the Institution

Dr. Tom Striplin, President of Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College announced that the U.S. Department of Education selected the college for a Title III – Strengthening Institutions Program award for their proposal, “Advising, Technology, Training and Innovation” (ATTAIN). This competitive federal grant will provide the college $2.25 million dollars over the next five years to strengthen educational experiences and student services.

Pilgrim’s Provides Team Members Free Tuition to Eastern

Today, Pilgrim’s Moorefield announced a partnership with Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College to provide free tuition to qualifying team members and their dependents.

The nationwide program, Pilgrim’s Better Futures, removes a major financial barrier to college attendance and stands to become the largest free community college tuition program in rural America. Pilgrim’s and Eastern advisors will also help team members – many from first-generation American families – navigate the application process, which can be a deterrence to people applying to college for the first time.
